We did the flowers for a wedding last week.
Bride, bridesmaids, large table, small table bouquets.
A total of 62 bouquets
Congratulations Amanda and Dustin!

The purple and yellow blossoms above belong to a flower called salpiglossis also known as Painted Tongue.  We gleaned some local, wild sweetpeas and mixed them with Bells of Ireland and fresh boysenberry sprigs.

John is cutting the end of the sweetpeas for this season.  The recent hot weather put these into speed mode.  Behind him are our boysenberries.  They also ripened quickly on those hot days. What usually takes a week or so to coax out their sweetness, happened in 24 hours.  It will be interesting to see how that affects the quality.  Haven't noticed the birds zooming in yet.  They seem to be headed for the plum tree instead.

This Friday, June 15 we will be selling red and yellow onions, kale and rainbow swiss chard, and our flower bouquets.  John also has been busy dividing dahlia tubers and has propagated these to sell.  Above is Raz-Ma-Taz, a real beauty.  We will have several of these in 4 gallon pots; other varieties as well.  The Occidental Farmer's Market starts at 4pm and goes until dusk.

Vine Hill Farm

This is farmer John, showing off his fava beans.  We use favas and vetch for cover crops in the winter months to replenish nutrients to the soil.

 Welcome to Vine Hill Farm.

We are located above the Laguna de Santa Rosa in the northwestern part of Sonoma County.  Our "farm" consists of a half acre of land dedicated to the production of fruits, vegetables, and flowers.  What started many years ago as a backyard garden has evolved into a full time operation.  When we realized we were growing more than we could use ourselves, we turned to the local county Farmers' Markets.

We have begun our third season selling at the
Occidental Bohemian Farmer's Market.
